Module 2 – The Moving Space

Creative Individuality – Atmosphere – Play
In this module, we explore a given play’s space and world. What happens when we dive into the writer’s world and allow ourselves to be surprised by its specific dynamics, energy, language, and space?

Michael Chekhov’s concepts of “Objective Atmosphere” (“the soul of every piece of art”), “Personal Atmosphere of the character,” and “The Feeling of Ease, Form, Beauty, and the Whole” will guide us through this exploration.

Focus – Space – Personal and objective Atmosphere – Playfulness – Higher Self – Feeling of Ease, Feeling of Form, Feeling of Beauty, and Feeling of the Whole

Working material: Midsummer Night’s Dream by W. Shakespeare
Please read the play several times and choose one character and one short monologue that belongs to the character you have chosen.
