Facilitator: Dunja Tot
Sanford Meisner was Stella Adler and Lea Strasberg’s contemporary and, like both, was inspired by the Stanislavski Method. The Meisner System is composed of 5 basic parts: basic exercises, emotional preparation, working on the text, working on the part, monologues.
Almost all actors have the same two problems: self-control while they should be dealing with their part, and they don’t listen to their partner. With that, the relationship between an actor and his/her partner and his/herself develops by a number of systematically developed exercises. Furthermore, emotions are not the cause of actions, rather it is the actions that cause emotions. That is the foundation of Meisner’s theory that starts from the belief that an actor is always on stage alone, while acting serves as a detection and development of his/her potential.
The workshop is intended for: professionals and directors, as well as acting, dramaturgy and directing students, however amateurs may participate, as well.
